Trading on the city bourse fell by 15 per cent in volume, and 26 per cent in value over the previous trading session as more than 114.29 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.69 trillion.
Ninh Van Bay Travel Real Estate Joint Stock Company (NVT) was the most active share in volume with 8.9 million shares changing hands.
Vietnam Ocean Shipping Joint Stock Company (VOS) chased after with 4.43 million shares.
Petro Vietnam Transport Corporation (PVT) tagged along with 3.2 million shares traded.
Everpia Vietnam Joint Stock Company (EVE) ditched 19.41 per cent to close at VND24,500. The company will pay dividends at a ratio of 15 per cent in cash, and 20 per cent by shares on May 30.
Binh Duong Mineral and Construction Joint Stock Company (KSB) undermined 8.92 per cent to close at VND24,500.
Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company (KHP) cut 8.25 per cent to close at VND8,900.
Royal International Corporation (RIC) jumped 5 per cent to close at VND8,400.
Tay Bac Minerals Investment Joint Stock Company (KTB) and Sieu Thanh Joint Stock Corporation (ST8) rallied 4.96 per cent to close at VND12,700, and VND14,800 respectively.
Southern Seed Corporation (SSC) trimmed 4.78 per cent to end at VND35,100.
The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – removed 6.8 points, or 1.23 per cent, to end at 547.94. Among its 30 members, 5 stocks rose, 21 dropped and 4 closed unmoved.
Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north slumped 1.98 per cent, or 1.65 points, to close at 81.58 points with 82 gainers, 227 losers, and 45 stocks treading water. Around 91.8 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND992.2 billion.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares surged 0.28 per cent, or 0.1 points, to close at 35.67 points. A total of 289,030 shares changed hands at VND2.14 billion.
