Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index declined the first time in seven days on April 13 as investors sold shares to book profits.

The measure of 305 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange dipped 0.59 per cent, or 2.74 points, to close at 462.52 points, with 103 gainers, 139 losers, and 68 stocks remaining unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse improved by 14.5 per cent in volume, and 2 per cent in value over the previous trading session as 122.01 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.79 trillion.

Tan Tao Investment & Technology Joint Stock Company (ITA) led the list of the most active shares in volume with 6.92 million shares changing hands.

Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) was runner-up with 5.22 million shares.

Sacom Development & Investment Corporation (SAM) was the third runner-up with 4.81 million shares traded.

Vietnam Active Fund (VFMVFA) fell for third trading session, removing 5 per cent to close at VND5,700.

Duc Long Gia Lai Group Joint Stock Company (DLG) chopped 4.98 per cent to close at VND21,000.

Southern Seed Corporation (SSC) extended losing streak to four consecutive trading sessions, shrinking 4.94 per cent to close at VND32,700.

Tuong An Vegetable Oil Joint Stock Company (TAC) rose 4.99 per cent to close at VND37,900.

Hapaco Corporation (HAP) rose 4.92 per cent to close at VND6,400.

Hoi An Tourist Service Joint Stock (HOT) and Khang An Investment Real Estate Joint Stock Company (KAC) enhanced 4.85 per cent to close at VND28,100 and VND10,800 respectively.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – retreated 4.98 points, or 0.93 per cent, to end at 532.3. Among its 30 members, 9 stocks advanced, 16 retreated and 5 remained unmoved.

Meanwhile, Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north crashed 0.2 per cent, or 0.16 points, to close at 78.38 points, with 87 winners, 188 losers, and 58 stocks treading water. More than 104.58 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.05 trillion.

The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares contracted 0.34 per cent, or 0.12 points, to close at 34.77 points. A total of 1,924,500 shares changed hands at VND10.78 billion.
