VND 35 billion for children in Thua Thien – Hue

Nhan Dan - The chairman of the Thua Thien – Hue provincial People’s Committee approved a project to enhance the protection, care and education of children in Thua Thien – Hue province for the 2011 to 2015 period.

The total budget for the project is an estimated VND 35 billion including VND 18 billion from the central budget, VND 8 billion from the local budget and VND 9 billion from other sources.

The project aims to ensure that 100% of children under six years old have health insurance cards and receive free health examinations and treatment at medical establishments. It also sets the target to have the malnutrition rate of under five-year-olds decreased to 14%; make sure 70% of disabled pupils are attending universal schools; and help all orphans, disabled and abandoned children benefit from social welfare policies.

The project strives for 70% of communes, wards and towns to reach the national standards of child care, under which 40% of communes, wards and towns have playgrounds, and 100% of districts, towns and the city establish child support funds.
