The Ministry of Transport has just decided to set up a steering board to boost the momentum of the construction of the Hue-Da Nang Highway.

The highway to link the two central tourist cities of Hue and Da Nang is 80 km in length and costs some VND 15,000 billion. At the Da Nang end, the highway will be connected with Da Nang-Quang Ngai Highway and will continue through the whole eastern transport network of the Ho Chi Minh Highway.

According to the Ministry’s leaders, the construction of the highway is aimed to share heavy traffic with National Highway 1A, which is often overloaded and waterlogged in the rainy season.

Experts said that the construction of the highway is hard work as the road is built on difficult terrains. Especially, there will be two long tunnels, namely Phu Gia and Phuoc Tuong, to be built.

The construction of the two tunnels is expected to cost VND 1,186 billion and to take three years to finish.
