Nhan Dan – Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Transport Nguyen Xuan Hao signed a decision to fine a Vietnamese passenger aboard Vietnam Airlines (VNA) VND15 million (US$720) for opening airplane's emergency exit door.

Le Van Thuan, from Nhu Thanh district in the central province of Thanh Hoa, opened the emergency exit door on the VN1265 Vinh-Ho Chi Minh City flight as the VNA 324 aircraft was preparing to land on February 14, causing the evacuation slide to open and inflate.

His transgression rendered the airplane incapable of serving the next flight. The plane had to be sent abroad to re-roll the evacuation slide, costing US$10,000.
