VGP – Việt Nam intends to send 8,000 workers to the Republic of Korea in 2011, according to the Workers Overseas Center under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA).
In 2011, the MOLISA has set a target of sending 87,000 workers to other countries including 8,000 ones to the RoK, said Deputy Head of the Workers Overseas Center Vũ Minh Xuyên
He said that the target is feasible as 8,199 Vietnamese laborers arrived in the RoK in 2010.
The RoK schedules to accept 48,000 guest workers in 2011 including 40,000 in manufacturing sector.
A total of 15,000 Vietnamese candidates have passed Korean language tests and so far 5,000 of those have been selected by the RoK companies.
Việt Nam now tops of the list of 15 nations in the RoK’s EPS program. The two countries on August 29, 2010 extended the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on supplying and receiving Vietnamese guest workers under the employment permit system (EPS) program.
As of last August, over 55,000 Vietnamese laborers were working at over 1,500 RoK’s small and medium-sized enterprises./.
