VN hopes to beef up cooperation with Netherlands

VGP – Viet Nam hopes to shake hands with the Netherlands to successfully implement the strategic partnership on climate change adaptation and sustainable agricultural development, said Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung.

Mr. Dung made the point on April 19 while meeting with Dutch PM Mark Rutte.

Mr. Dung conveyed compliments of Vietnamese senior leaders to Dutch PM Mark Rutte and congratulated the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy led by the Dutch PM on the recent successful election. He was convinced that the new Dutch Government would lead the Netherlands to development and prosperity.

According to Deputy PM Dung, the bilateral ties have developed in a comprehensive manner as the Netherlands becomes one of Viet Nam’s leading economic, trade, and investment partners in Europe.

He hoped that the Netherlands would continue to stand by Viet Nam in national development; fruitfully implement the strategic partnership on climate change adaptation and sustainable agricultural development; and broaden other fields of cooperation which the Netherlands has advantages including maritime operation, maritime economy, and energy.

In reply, PM Mark Rutte underscored that the Dutch Government and business community expected to cement and deepen economic, trade, and investment ties with Viet Nam; support the EU to early ratify the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA); consider Viet Nam as an important partner in the Southeast Asian region.

The PM also reiterated the Dutch stance which supports Viet Nam and ASEAN to peacefully resolve disputes in the East Sea.

On this occasion, the two leaders were unanimous in facilitating respective businesses to strengthening cooperation and investment in prioritized fields including climate change, water management, agriculture, energy, maritime economy, logistics; beefing up local connections; and supporting each other at regional and international forums.

Both sides also reaffirmed their determination to cement and deepen the bilateral in a deep and sustainable fashion./.
