VGP – The two Government working groups of Vietnam and Laos met on Friday discuss the search and repatriation of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who had laid down their lives in Laos during war time.
The two sides applauded efforts of Vietnamese and Lao teams in searching and repatriating the Vietnamese martyr remains from Laos over the past years.
Since 1994, 16,000 sets of remains of the Vietnamese fallen combatants have been repatriated from Laos.
Both sides agreed on measures of strengthening financial and equipment support for the search work.
Currently, there are over 1,000 sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers and experts in Laos. The majority of them are located in disadvantaged areas or lack of precise information
