VGP – Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam co-organized the Vietnam-Indonesia Trade, Tourism and Investment Forum in Hanoi on June 11.
At the forum, the two nations’ businesses shared knowledge about the advantageous sectors as well as experiences to overcome the global economic downturn.
Vietnam and Indonesia are making efforts to accelerate the comprehensive cooperation in a more realistic and effective manner at both bilateral and multilateral sides, said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien.
The forum is a good chance for the two sides’ businesses to seek new investment opportunities, stated VCCI Chairman Vu Tien Loc.
To raise the two-way trade turnover to US $5 billion by 2015, the two sides need to improve the trade balance, he added.
In 2011, Vietnam-Indonesia trade turnover reached US $4.6 billion. Vietnam’s export and import values are estimated at US $2.4 billion and US $2.2 billion, respectively.
Vietnam mainly exports rice, crude oil and garments and imports iron and steel, spare parts, equipment, paper and chemical substances from Indonesia.
