Hoa Phat Hanoi defeated reigning champs Hanoi T&T in at Hanoi’s Hang Day Stadium on Friday while Hanoi ACB beat Thanh Hoa 2-1 at the same stadium on Sunday.
The home win lifted Hoa Phat Hanoi two places to eighth with 18 points while Hanoi T&T remained in fifth spot with 21 points. Hanoi ACB and Thanh Hoa remained in 12th and fourth positions respectively.
Ninh Binh, who are also near the bottom, earned a 2-1 home win over the 2007-08 champs Binh Duong at Ninh Binh Stadium. Ninh Binh climbed one place to 10th with 18 points while Binh Duong fell two positions to ninth with the same 18 points.
At Pleiku Stadium in Central Highlands, 2003-04 champs Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) took a 1-0 home win over 2009 champions Da Nang. HAGL, who were in the 10th position before round 15, jumped three positions to seventh while Da Nang remained in second with 28 points but seven points adrift of league leaders Nghe An.
Hai Phong upset Khanh Hoa 2-0 at Nha Trang Stadium in an away win that keeps it at 13th place (out of 14) with 16 points. Their home loss pushed Khanh Hoa down five places to 11th with 18th points.
Ho Chi Minh City representatives Navibank Saigon jumped two places to sixth after a 2-0 away victory over the Mekong Delta side Dong Thap, who remained in third with 24 points but 11 points adrift of the leaders Nghe An who stayed on top with 35 points after their 1-0 home win over Dong Tam Long An.
