Nhan Dan – Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, Huynh Dam, sent a congratulatory letter to Khmer monks and all Khmer ethnic people on April 12 to mark the occasion of their New Year festival, Chol Chnam Thmay.
In his letter, Chairman Huynh Dam said he was delighted with the Khmer community’s active involvement in implementing Party guidelines as well as State policies and laws.
He praised the Khmer people’s participation in VFF campaigns and movements, particularly the ‘All people unite to develop cultural life in residential areas’ and ‘Day for the Poor’ campaigns, which have contributed significantly to national development and raising living standards for Khmer people.
The VFF Chairman also said he believes that Khmer monks and all Khmer people will continue promoting the tradition of national unity and patriotic movements and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example; as well as strengthen the great national unity bloc; accomplish their national socio-economic, defence, and security tasks in 2012; and work towards creating a prosperous people, a powerful country, and a fair, democratic, and civilised society.
* Earlier on April 11-12, a delegation headed by Deputy Head of Vietnam’s Southwest Steering Committee Huynh Minh Doan visited Khmer pagodas in the Mekong delta province of Bac Lieu and presented gifts to disadvantaged Khmer families for their New Year festival.
Provincial authorities also visited local Khmer people on the occasion to extend their best wishes and present gifts to policy beneficiary Khmer households in Vinh Loi district and Bac Lieu city.
