An unexploded bomb weighing more than 340 kilograms has been found in the sand being transported by a construction material shop in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu, local military forces said Wednesday.

According to the provincial military headquarters, the MK81 bomb was in a "new" condition, and has been sent to the provincial specialized area to be defused.

Pham Thi Cam Van, owner of the shop, said the bomb, which was 1.75 meters long, was found when workers were unloading sand from a barge.

She said the sand was bought in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
