The British market, for the first time, is listed in top 10 largest markets for Vietnam tourism with around 18,000 tourists in January, 2012, an increase of 39,7 percent compared to the same time last year.

The UK market has developed more strongly in 2011 with various promotional campaigns for Vietnamese tourists, since the opening of direct flights from Hanoi and HCMC to London in December.

At present, there are 4 direct flights per week from Vietnam to the UK and it is planed that there will be daily flights in 2015.

Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said that various marketing campaigns will be launched to invite more British travel agencies to Vietnam in 2012.

Over the past two years, many activities have been developed to promote Vietnam tourism in the UK, including advertising on taxi, travel magazines of the Association of British Travel Agents, UK National Geographic, especially on electronic boards at the Premier League’s 12 matches from October to December 2011. In addition, many posters and videos to promote Vietnam tourism were installed in 60 stadiums in the UK for a month.

Also, the Guardian, has announced its travel awards in 2011, and Vietnam was selected as one of the five favourite tourist destinations, after Japan, the Maldives, Peru and New Zealand.
