The detainees assaulted two men and fired shots in the air to threaten them on July 17, a VnExpress news website report said Saturday.
Tran Thanh Hai, 33, and Nguyen Quy Tu, 24, would be investigated on charges of “deliberately injuring others,” the report said.
The duo, hailing from the northern province of Nam Dinh, were arrested when they were about to take a flight to Hanoi on July 18.
Police also confiscated two guns and more than 40 bullets from them.
They are looking for two other suspects – Tran Quoc Viet, 24, and Phan Anh Dung, 36, also from Nam Dinh.
On July 17 Hai and other gang members had beaten up Le Minh Thinh, 46, at a snail restaurant in District 1.
The gang was believed to be hired by someone to "solve" a conflict with Thinh over their business location.
Thinh’s daughter, 23-year-old Le Thi Phuong Thao, and her friend Nguyen Hoang Phuc, 26, tried to stop them. But they hit Phuc on his head with gun holsters.
Before leaving, the gang fired a few shots in the air, police said.
According to police, their initial findings are that the gang has assaulted many people with weapons in conducting illegal businesses like debt collection in Nam Dinh.
They are now suspects in an armed robbery that took place in the northern province of Hoa Binh.
Police are investigating the cases further.
