Two int’l companies commit to reducing drug prices

Two foreign pharmaceutical companies have agreed to reduce the prices of their products in Vietnam, said the Drug Administration of Vietnam. Accordingly, the Austrian Ebewe Pharma company will cut the prices of 16 of its 31 products by 5-12 percent and the French Laboratories Servier will lower prices by 7 percent for Diamicron, the medicine for diabetes treatment and 10 percent for Vastaren to cure heart diseases. The multi-national company, GlaxoSmithKline, is also considering reducing prices of antibiotics for adults and children. The three companies also pledged to ensure the supply sources meet the demand for medical treatment in Vietnam.

Accordingly, the Austrian Ebewe Pharma company will cut the prices of 16 of its 31 products by 5-12 percent and the French Laboratories Servier will lower prices by 7 percent for Diamicron, the medicine for diabetes treatment and 10 percent for Vastaren to cure heart diseases.

The multi-national company, GlaxoSmithKline, is also considering reducing prices of antibiotics for adults and children.

The three companies also pledged to ensure the supply sources meet the demand for medical treatment in Vietnam.
