Twins return for guitar night in Phu Nhuan

A guitar night featuring twins Phuong Thu and Phuong Thao will be held at 8 p.m. at Phu Nhuan Cultural Center tonight by Phu Nhuan Guitar Club.
The classic guitar night, which has been anticipated by the girls for five years, will consist of solo performances and duets with the theme ‘The Twins Return’.
Thu will perform three pieces by Agustin Barrios Mangore and a flamenco style song by Juan Serrano. Thao will perform four songs by Francisco Tarrega, Mangore and Redericov Speafico. The twins will then perform the Portuguese folk song Milonga, Pica Pica, the Turkish march by Mozart and Milongueo Del Ayer by Abel Fleury.
This event marks the return of the girls after a 10-year hiatus and is also organized to celebrate their birthday.
Both sisters graduated from the same guitar class at HCMC Conservatory and were awarded with the gold medal for a guitar duet in the 1994 Nationwide Professional Music and Dance Festival. They also performed at the HCMC Musicians Club and were a popular act before they took a break.
Thu is currently working as an accountant, while Thao is pursuing a Master’s degree in guitar at HCMC Conservatory. If the event is successful, the twins will conduct other shows and release a guitar duet album.
