Volunteers of the Youth Communist Union in Ho Chi Minh City carry subscription boxes down to streets and small alleys to call for donations from locals during the “Let’s Build Truong Sa” campaign launched by Tuoi Tre newspaper.

They come in groups of 2-3 to bring their boxes along streets in the city to raise the fund and also awareness of citizens to make their contributions in needy cases.
A street cleaner named Ly Thanh Quang in District 1 told Tuoi Tre after giving a sum of money that, “I woke up early at midnight today. After finishing my regular job, I come here to join the activity. I give today part of daily salary to join hands building up Truong Sa to become stronger.”
Students from the high school Bui Thi Xuan, who attended their brief ceremony to start the voluntary “Green Summer” on Sunday made their donations to the fund.
“I save my today’s breakfast to donate to the fund and I hope my friends will have their own ways to contribute to our islands and territorial waters in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa,” Tran Minh Hoang Hung – a 10th grade student of the school said.
In an alley in Cau Kho Ward in District 1, an Australian Vietnamese on his visit here waved the volunteers to give his donation.
“Our overseas Vietnamese will surely give their support to the fund if they know as we are citizens growing up on the nation. We proud of our people, it means we should have responsibility with our nation,” he said.
During the parade of volunteers on streets, many normal people as lottery tickets sellers and market goers stopped by to donate their money.
