Citizens across the nation have kept on donating to the “Let’s Build Truong Sa” fund set up by Tuoi Tre Newspaper after the first shipment of construction materials -- coming from the donations -- set off to Truong Sa archipelagos on Monday.

On Monday, representatives of the Volunteers’ Force in Ho Chi Minh City arrived at Tuoi Tre newsroom to hand over VND41.35 million (US$2,000) contributed by its members.
Secretary Phan Thi My Anh of the HCMC Volunteers’ Force said, “We have mobilized our members to make contributions with people across the nation for the developments of Truong Sa archipelagos.”
“We received enthusiastic response as fortifying Truong Sa is a big aspiration of Vietnamese people,” she added
Besides the contribution, the Volunteers’ Force is also calling upon 1,000 members to send messages of donations to Truong Sa. Any people can now compile “TRUONGSA” as texting message on mobile phone and send to 1408. Each message means a donation of VND16,000.
On the same day, Doan Minh Don, chief of the trade union of Posts Materials Company in District 10 came to Tuoi Tre to donate VND13.1 million ($640) to the fund.
“It is the contributions of members in the company,” he said.
The “Let’s Build Truong Sa” fund has so far received almost VND19 billion ($927,000) since it was launched in mid May this year.
The sum will be used to build a Community House on Da Tay Islands of Truong Sa archipelagos in the East Sea, serving as a shelter for our fishermen and visitors to the sea waters. Construction of the house is planned to complete in April next year.
The first shipment of construction material was sent to Da Tay on Monday.
