HANOI – Trung Nguyen Coffee on Wednesday officially opened the largest G7 instant coffee plant in Asia in Quang Chau Industrial Park in the northern province of Bac Giang, with a designed output of over 100 tons per day.
The Trung Nguyen Bac Giang coffee plant having an investment of over US$30 million is the fifth plant of the modern coffee plant chain worth VND2.2 trillion of Trung Nguyen.
In the first phase, the plant will focus on processing and packing products to serve the demand in the northern market where the company holds a market share of 75.8%.
Meanwhile, Trung Nguyen will pour investments in the processing technologies to achieve the highest efficiency in quality and quantity in the second phase.
The opening of this instant coffee plant is part of the National Coffee Cluster project which was submitted to the Government early this month which aims high for an annual coffee revenue of US$20 billion in the next 15 years.
Regarding the project, Dang Le Nguyen Vu, board chairman of Trung Nguyen Coffee, said Vietnam was the world’s second largest coffee exporter but its position on the global market was not strong. If only focusing on exporting raw beans with low value, Vietnam will not be able to gain the value and prosperity that coffee offers, he said.
The National Coffee Cluster project expects to receive specific supports from the Government in developing the coffee strategy in Dak Lak Province, creating a good business environment to encourage domestic and foreign investments in the project.
