Transport Minister Truong Quang Nghia yesterday ordered relevant agencies in coordination with local governments to install speed limit signs in accident blackspots - places where road traffic accidents have historically been concentrated.

Installing speed limit signs should be set up early to reduce traffic accidents as per the sector’s target.

Though the number of death, injury and cases of traffic in February 2017 decreased compared to same period last years, it has seen surge of traffic accidents most in railway; accordingly, related agencies must concentrate on railway safety and infrastructure.

According to the Directorate for Road of Vietnam, currently there has been 800 blackspots in national highways which needs over VND1,000 billion (US$43,832,700). Agencies will recheck black spots to gradually repair them. In addition, the sector must have measures to adjust thousands of intersections between roads and railway.
