Tran Quoc Nghien Temple Festival opens in Quang Ninh

Nhan Dan – The Tran Quoc Nghien Temple Festival officially opened in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, on Sunday as part of the ongoing Ha Long Tourism Week.

The festival featured many rituals and activities including the lantern floating and release ceremonies; as well as other artistic performances and folk games, such as a dragon dance, tug-of-war and cock fighting.

The temple, situated at the foot of Bai Tho Mountain, was built in the 13th century to commemorate Tran Quoc Nghien, the eldest son of Tran Hung Dao and a brave, talented general of the Tran dynasty who fought in the resistance against the Yuan-Mongol invaders.

The festival has been held annually since the temple was restored in 2008 and has become a tradition among Ha Long citizens, contributing to promoting the local culture and educating younger generations about patriotism and national pride.
