Traffic TV program’s bloody scenes turn controversial

A TV program broadcast recently on Ho Chi Minh City Cable Television intended to draw people’s attention to traffic safety has raised concern among viewers who worry that the show’s bloody content will negatively impact people who see it.

Titled “Cai Chet Duoc Bao Chet” (The Heralded Death), the program includes videos featuring real accidents captured by automatic cameras on the streets. The car crashes and dead and bloody bodies showcased in detail on the TV screen are terrible enough to bring goosebumps to anyone watching.

Many audience members opined that they were freaked out after seeing the shocking scenes, and some even compared the show to a horror movie.

“I only got a chill watching the program. People should create an educational show, not a scary one. I was so haunted that I couldn’t even go to sleep. So how can the show’s creators raise awareness through that?”, netizen Thanh Thao shared.

“The videos do work since they scare people and make them follow traffic laws more seriously. Still, in my opinion, the program has adverse effects. It will make people feel insecure when they travel on the streets,” Nguyen Trong Dang added.

However, a large number of viewers said they agree with the program’s content since nobody has ever shed tears without seeing a coffin.

“We need more things like this show for our current traffic situation. Traffic accidents are getting more and more serious while people’s awareness of the issue is still very bad,” Nguyen Minh Son opined.

“Bravo HTVC,” Hoang Tuan Khai added. “My teenage son has been more careful when travelling on the street after watching the show.”

For his part, Le Duc Hung, director of HTVC, said it’s necessary to run such a program. The TV station aimed to make the show impressive enough to alert people, as well as offer a deep perspective on the local traffic situation.

He also explained that the videos were sourced from other countries since local streets have not been equipped with enough cameras to capture such accidents.
