The Railway and Road Traffic Police Department has unveiled a month-long campaign to patrol, control and handle violations on traffic safety and order from August 31st.
Accordingly, traffic police forces nationwide will focus on dealing with drunk driving, speeding, overload carrying, helmet wearing, and some other infringements.
Besides, they will be active in controlling road crimes, especially assault on officers on duty.
They will also re-establish safety corridors for railways, and survey railway crossings, where accidents often happen.
At the same time, propagandas on traffic safety will be promoted. Traffic police forces will receive more officers to avoid traffic jams, especially during National Day, September 2nd and the day to begin the new academic year.
According to Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation, the first six months of this year scored 469 accidents with 421 deaths and 262 injured. In Hanoi, there were 244 traffic accidents in the first four months, with over 200 deaths and 70 injured.
