Supermodel Vu Thu Phuong will auction her self-designed dress at the upcoming show Be strong, Japan to raise funds for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The show, to be held this Thursday in Ho Chi Minh City after a similar one in Hanoi, will gather well-known singers and models to perform as well as auction off their personal items.

Phuong, who has started designing in addition to modeling and acting, will ask for the starting price of VND3,480,000 (US$167) for her dress.

“I want to contribute a little to the Japanese as I truly admire their resilience during these hard times,” Phuong said.

The 25 year-old model initially intended to wear the dress at the show but as she would be in Hanoi to take part in the Vietnamese version of Dancing with the Star, she had to ask another model to replace her and decided to play her part by auctioning the dress instead.

Be strong, Japan will take place at Ocean Club, 5 Nguyen Tat Thanh, District 4. All proceeds will be sent to the Japanese embassy in Vietnam.
