Vietnamese badminton ace Nguyen Tien Minh, the world’s No 8, advanced to the semifinals of the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix Gold after beating the world's number 29 Sony Dwi Kuncoro 2-0 today.

It took Minh only 23 minutes to eliminate the Indonesian rival. He will next take on Chinese Bao Chunlai, the 7th seed of the tournament, in the last four round on Saturday.
This is the second time Minh goes through to the semis of the Malaysian event. Last year, he stormed through to the semis and lost to host player Lee Chong Wei 2-0.
