Tien Minh bow out of badminton’s Super Series finals

Vietnam’s badminton star Nguyen Tien Minh has stopped his cruise at the 2010 Badminton World Federation Super Series Finals in Taiwan after suffering his second straight loss on Thursday.

He was beaten 0-2 by the world number 3 Danish Peter Hoeg Gade in a group match of the tournament with participation of eight top ranking players in the world.

Tien Minh, ranked fifth in the world, went down 21-16 21-18 to the Danish star in 45 minutes.

It was his second failure after the 21-12 21-17 defeat by defending champion Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia in his opening match.

The two losses have left his last group stage game with Danish player Jan O Jorgensen on Saturday merely a formality.

Minh has so far met the world number 12th Jorgensen four times and won them all.

Four players advancing to the semifinals include are Malaysian Lee Chong Wei, Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade, Long Chen of China and Thailand’s Boonsak Ponsana.
