Nhan Dan – Around 8,500 local Khmer households will benefit from a power grid construction project, which was launched in Dinh An commune, Go Quao district, Kien Giang province on July 6.
The project, with a total investment of VND198.25 billion (US$9.5 million), will build nearly 693 kilometres of electric lines and install 265 transformer stations.
Most of the funding for the project comes from the State Budget (85%), with the remainder sourced from the EVN Southern Power Corporation (15%).
The project is expected to be completed later this year, bringing the percentage of local households with access to power from 95.4% to 97.6%. It will also raise the ratio of Khmer families in the province connected to electricity from 74.4% to 94.4%.
