Third meeting for Vietnam-Cambodia friendship and cooperation concluded

PANO – After one week with diverse activities of close friendship, a harmonious closing ceremony of the third meeting for cooperation and friendship between Vietnam-Cambodia people was held on August 5th in Kien Giang Province, by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, in association with the Vietnam-Cambodia and Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Associations.

Special solidarity and friendship

On the afternoon of August 5th, two delegations of Vietnam and Cambodia visited the tower of four Cambodian monk martyrs, who died in Kien Giang Province during the war resistance against American invaders, and a boarding school for ethnic minorities in Kien Giang Province where 30 Cambodian students are studying.

A Cambodian student joyfully said that he and his friends have been following the event for several days. These meaningful activities helped them to learn more about and love the beautiful country of Vietnam and its friendly and peaceful people. They will continue to improve the long-term friendly, united and cooperative ties between two countries.

Vu Mao delivers a speech at the closing ceremony

Tran Duy Ngoc, a 69 year-old man in Rach Gia City, said he expected to see more messages of solidarity and friendship as well as practical activities after this program to make Vietnam-Cambodia better and better.

At 6 PM on August 5th, amid colorful flags, flowers, banners, lights and sounds, the closing ceremony of the third meeting for cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia was held movingly.

On behalf of Cambodian representatives, Men Sam An, Cambodia’s Standing Deputy Prime Minister, deeply thanked the Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people for their great help to Cambodia over the past years.

Also, she delightfully confirmed the event is so meaningful with various helpful, heartfelt and friendly activities. She believed that this activity will help two countries to be closer to support each other to comprehensively develop, especially in trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchanges.

Though the program was held in only a short time, the two countries’ people could find a common voice to boost the great Vietnam-Cambodia relationship.

Vu Mao, Chairman of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association, said: “The traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between two nations are being well enhanced in recent years, contributing great contributions to the cause of the two countries’ construction, defense and development for peace, stability and cooperation in the region and all over the world. In addition, at this meeting, representatives from the two countries exchanged experiences in implementing friendship activities in localities as well as recommended several practical measures to further bring the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation to a higher level. This is a great success of the program”.

Tith Set Ha, from Kampot Province, said that she seems to live among her beloved relatives when participating in this program. Cambodian people will always remember Vietnamese people’s great contributions to saving them from the Pol Pot’s regimeand improving educating Cambodian young generations about solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

Strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation

As part of various special activities, the two countries’ representatives visited 49 Cambodian martyrs in the national historical relic site of Brigade 125 in Long Giao Commune, Cam My District, Dong Nai Province. “Vietnamese and Cambodian martyrs sacrificed for the national liberation and liberty. We should remember and express gratitude to them by practical activities to deepen the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship”, Major-General Tran Van Hung, Deputy Commissar of the Military Zone 7, said.

Moved with sentiments of Vietnamese friends, a Cambodian, who had spent seven years studying at the Hanoi National Economics University, said: “We should expand more these meaningful and practical activities to help the two countries’ people learn more about each other in order to create a better future”.

At last, representatives from the two countries hand in hand sang the song “Vietnam-Cambodia Samaki” to close the ceremony in a reluctant farewell atmosphere.
