The pieces are the result of 12 years of hard work for the artist who has depicted a beautiful and talented young woman who is nevertheless stricken with the cruel fate of her love. Mai said: "My paintings are not illustrations for "The Tale of Kieu", instead they represent my own emotions before Kieu’s cruel fate. I want the viewers to get these feelings with their own vibe".
