The Hanoitimes - Through 28 paintings o­n silk, artist Ngoc Mai has told the stories of the featured characters of the epic poem Truyen Kieu (The Tale of Kieu), and gave the viewer an insight into Kieu’s up-and-down life.

The Hanoitimes - Through 28 paintings o­n silk, artist Ngoc Mai has told the stories of the featured characters of the epic poem Truyen Kieu (The Tale of Kieu), and gave the viewer an insight into Kieu’s up-and-down life.

The pieces are the result of 12 years of hard work for the artist who has depicted a beautiful and talented young woman who is nevertheless stricken with the cruel fate of her love.

Mai said: "My paintings are not illustrations for "The Tale of Kieu", instead they represent my own emotions before Kieu’s cruel fate. I want the viewers to get these feelings with their own vibe".

The paintings can be seen at the Ho Chi Minh City Exhibition House, 92 Le Thanh Ton St , District 1.
