“We always consider Vietnam, the country of President Ho Chi Minh as our second homeland”, said Major General Somvang Thammasit, Director of the Laos People Police Academy at a meeting between two high-ranking delegations of Vietnam Ministry of Public Security with 800 officers and of Laos Department of Security in late last month.
Major General Somvang Thammasit had been in Vietnam for ten years and he could speak Vietnamese as the Vietnamese. He had expressed great thank for the great help of Vietnam’s Government, people and people’s police and stressed that a large amount of knowledge he learnt from Vietnam was a base for him to build scientific theories to educate younger generations in the Laos People Police Academy.
For his part, Colonel Keodavongsaynhaseng, Security Director of Kham Muon Province often expressed his special love for Vietnam through his thoughtful behaviors to people from Vietnam. He said that he had spent 12 years learning and researching in Vietnam academies but the deepest memory was the great sentiment of his Vietnamese teachers. “Only close brothers or comrades-in-arms could reserve such truthful sentiments for us. Also, knowledge from experienced Vietnamese teachers helps us to better contribute to our country’s development”, colonel Keodavongsaynhaseng further said.
Also at a performance in Vientiane Province, a Lao senior lieutenant colonel, Khamphengsimun, Deputy Director of Vientiane Security Department could not check tears listening to the song “Viet-Laos samakhi”. He started studying in Vietnam at the age of 19. To him, only a Vietnamese soup of luffa with crab is the most delicious dish he has ever eaten. He said that the time in Vietnam was the deepest and unforgettable memory in his life.
