Nhan Dan – A ceremony was held yesterday in the northern province of Thai Nguyen to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s arrival at the Dinh Hoa ATK (Safety Zone) to lead the French resistance war.
The event was attended by President Truong Tan Sang and other senior Party and State leaders.
In 1947, a safety zone was established in Dinh Hoa district where President Ho Chi Minh and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam led the Vietnamese people in a nine-year struggle to defeat the French colonialists.
The revolutionary base has been recognised as a special national historical site for the significant role it played in the history of modern Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang praised the achievements of Thai Nguyen province over the past decades and urged the province to tap into its potential to promote further development in the coming years.
On the same day, the provincial authorities hosted a workshop entitled “Uncle Ho and Thai Nguyen Province”, which looked at the historical context and significance of Uncle Ho’s arrival at Dinh Hoa ATK to lead the resistance war against the French.
