HCMC - A review of a three-year pilot vocational training project between Singapore’s Temasek Foundation and HCMC was held in the city on Wednesday with the participation of Benedict Cheong, chief executive officer of the foundation.

HCMC - A review of a three-year pilot vocational training project between Singapore’s Temasek Foundation and HCMC was held in the city on Wednesday with the participation of Benedict Cheong, chief executive officer of the foundation.

The project so far has been deployed to help four vocational schools in the city develop high-quality human resources.

Pham Ngoc Thanh, deputy director of HCMC’s Department of Education and Training, said that the first experimental class opened with 281 students in 2009. These students took a two-year course with 85 majoring in electronic engineering.

Meanwhile, the 2010-2011 school year saw 241 students, comprising of 177 studying information technology and multimedia. Recruiting students for the next school year is under preparation, Thanh added.

Thanks to the cooperation deal, local administrative officers and teachers along with students have been given new training programs and advanced facilities fully funded by Temasek Foundation.
