Game addiction is again at the forefront of controversy following the multiple stabbing death on Wednesday of a Bac Lieu Province teacher and farmer by his adopted son.
Police say 13-year-old Tran Duy Nguyen of Vinh Loi District murdered Nguyen Duy Dat as the 41-year-old man was sleeping.
They say the teenager was after the money his foster father had just received from selling his rice crop.
Their investigations have already determined that Nguyen is addicted to online games and has often skipped class at Tran Van On Junior High recently.
The boy is being held at the police station of Ward 8, Bac Lieu Town while the investigation continues.
His biological parents, one of whom is the deceased’s sister, have been summoned to keep an eye on Nguyen.
