The Hanoitimes - A seminar on the Temple of Literature and centres of Confucianism in Vietnam which took place in Hanoi drew the participation of many history scholars and Chinese script researchers from many localities nationwide. For a long time, few researchers were interested in Vietnamese education activities in the past. The Temple of Literature was Vietnam ’s national school for many centuries. However, it was usually researched as a tangible relic. Rarely did the teaching and learning, the scale of the Temple of Literature over historical time, get mentioned. And likewise for centres of Confucianism in Bac Ninh, Hai Duong and other localities nationwide. Participants at the seminar discussed teaching and learning at the Temple of Literature , teachers and learners at the Temple of Literature , as well as teaching and learning in others localities in the past. They also addressed other interesting topics such as big educational centres in Thang Long, the system of private schools in the past, and study promotion in localities in feudal times. KTDT |
