(VOV) - A television programme entitled “Ho Chi Minh with a journey of the era” was broadcast live on June 5 from five places- HCM City, Hanoi, Cao Bang, Nghe An and Dong Thap to mark the centennial anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh’s overseas trip to seek a path for national salvation.
The event was attended by former Party Secretary General Le Kha Phieu, State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Dinh The Huynh , Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi, Politburo member and Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Huynh Dam, and representatives from some centrally run provinces, cities and ministries.
In his speech, President Triet said, “We are deeply grateful to President Ho Chi Minh- a great national leader and an architect of the Vietnamese revolution who devoted all his life to the revolutionary cause to bring independence, freedom and happiness to the Vietnamese people. During this lifetime, President HCM had an earnest desire to build a national independent, peaceful and unified Vietnam that can keep pace with powerful countries in the world. The whole Party and people are sparing no effort to fulfill his desire.”
Mr Triet also underlined the need for Vietnamese people to reinforce the great national unity bloc, maintain political stability, develop human resources in various fields, and study and follow late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example.
The programme provided viewers across the country with a fascinating window into Ho Chi Minh’s journey to seek a path to national salvation and liberation.
On June 5, 100 years ago, 21-year-old Nguyen Tat Thanh (later known as Ho Chi Minh) left Sai Gon under the name of Van Ba to seek a way to save his country.
The important historical landmarks in Ho Chi Minh’s journey from Sen Village to Sai Gon port were illustrated through photos, documentaries and exchanges between historic researchers and witnesses.
Ho Chi Minh’s 30-year journey across three oceans, four continents and nearly 30 nations brought him to Marxism-Leninism- a pioneering revolutionary doctrine of the era. President Ho Chi Minh had creatively applied Marxism-Leninism theory in the revolutionary cause to liberate the nation from oppression.
The programme which involved hundreds of singers and artists from all parts of the country vividly portrayed him as a great and beloved leader of the nation.
