TPP future to be decided in Viet Nam

VGP – The future of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will be decided at a ministerial meeting in Viet Nam this May, official has said.

Ministers of foreign affairs and trade from 12 TPP members, representatives from China and the Republic of Korea and Colombia have gathered in Vinã del Mar City, Chile for the first time since the new US Administration pulled the US out from the TPP.

The Ministers pledged to find out new ways to accelerate economic integration and trade in the region.

Chilean Foreign Minister Heraldo Munõz said the TPP members expressed their concerns over the current trade protectionism trend, affirming their commitment to boost freedom of trade, investment, services, and international economic integration and to consolidate the global trade system.

He announced that a ministerial meeting will be held in Viet Nam this May to decide the future of the trade pact.

US Ambassador to Chile Carol Perez, who also attended the Chile meeting, announced that her country stands ready to hold dialogues with Asia-Pacific partners.

The TPP members are: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the US and Viet Nam./.
