Coming into operation in January last year, the terminal has welcomed over 200 mother ships making port calls with a throughput of some 275,000 TEU and attracted ten large shipping lines in its first year of operation. TCIT is a joint venture of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) and three foreign shipping firms including Mitsui O.S.K Lines of Japan, Hanjin Shipping of South Korea and Wanhai Lines of Taiwan. TCIT has now become a container with the highest market share of 38% in the Cai Mep seaport cluster.
