Vietnamese students have won one gold, three silver and two bronze medals and the squad was ranked 9th at the 53rd International Maths Olympiad held in Mar del Plata in Argentina on July 2-18, reports the Vietnam News Agency.
The competition attracted 548 competitors from 100 nations with Dau Hai Dang, a twelfth-grade student of High School for Gifted Students of Hanoi University of Pedagogy, winning gold.
Silver medals went to Nguyen Hung Tam, a twelfth-grade student of Amsterdam High School in Hanoi, and Nguyen Phuong Minh and Nguyen Ta Duy, twelfth-grade students of High School for Gifted Students of Hanoi University of Pedagogy.
Tran Hoang Bao Linh, an eleventh-grade student of High School for Gifted Students of HCMC National University, and Le Quang Lam, a twelfth-grade student of Lam Son High School in Thanh Hoa Province, both won bronzes.
Moreover, the Ministry of Training and Education announced that all four members of the Vietnamese team won medals at the 23rd International Biology Olympiad that took place in Singapore from July 7-16.
Nguyen Thu Trang, a 12th grader from Le Hong Phong Senior High School for Gifted Children in the Nam Dinh Province, bagged a silver. Nguyen Thi Hai Anh, an 11th grader from the northern province of Vinh Phuc, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hong, a 12th grader from Hanoi, and Tran Duc Huy, a 12th grader from Nam Dinh Province, all won bronze medals.
The 23rd International Biology Olympiad attracted around 234 candidates from 63 nations.
