Students get grants from paint producer

Three hundred secondary students in 14 districts and towns of Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta's Long An Province were awarded grants by 4 Oranges, an emulsion paint producer based in the province.

Each grant is worth VND1,500,000 (US$45). A helmet and backpack worth VND500,000 ($22) were also given to the students.

This is the third consecutive time 4 Orange has given grants to students in the province.

KON TUM — Central Highland Kon Tum Province's Military Steering Committee yesterday excavated the remains of two unknown soldiers in Kon Tum City.

Local resident, Dinh Manh Hung, 50, found the remains while excavating foundations for his new house on Wednesday.

The committees also discovered rubber sandals, a walkie-talkie, knives and scarves.

The remains have been kept for preservation.

City bans carcinogenic Dong Co soy sauce

HA NOI — Ha Noi City's Health Department has announced a ban on the trade and use of Dong Co soy sauce after it was discovered containing 200 times the permitted level of the carcinogenetic 3-MCPD.

The soy sauce was manufactured and bottled in southern Tay Ninh Province.

The chemical, used to speed fermentation processes can cause cancer if overused. Under the Health Ministry regulations, 1mg per kg of 3-MCPD is allowed.

Laos child dies after eating mushrooms

THANH HOA — Doctors from Muong Lat General Hospital in central Thanh Hoa Province have successfully saved two Laos patients from mushroom poisoning.

The patients, a 32 year-old woman and her 12 and three year-old sons, were taken to the hospital with diarrhea, vomit and convulsions.

The 3 year-old boy died a few hours after being admitted to hospital.

The surviving family members left the hospital after 14-days of treatment. —VNS
