A tropical low pressure system in the East Sea has now intensified into a storm, named Saola, to locate east of the Philippines and trigger showers and thunderstorms in the southern regions of Vietnam.
On Saturday afternoon, Storm Saola was centered 15 degrees north latitude and 125.7 degrees east longitude, and moving northwest at about 15 kilometers an hour.
Storm Saola has fueled southwesterly winds in the southern parts of the East Sea, including Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands, to bring in showers and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the northern regions will continue to see torrential rainfall during the weekend due to a low pressure ridge.
Ho Chi Minh City with remain partly sunny during day time with thunderstorms during night time. Temperatures will prevail from 24-33 degrees Celsius.
