State President Nguyen Minh Triet suggested that Vietnam and Mongolia ’s defence ministries expand their cooperation and make further contributions to friendly and cooperative ties between the two countries.
The head of State received the visiting Mongolian Defence Minister Luvsanvandan Bold in Hanoi on December 9. He is visiting at the invitation of Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh.
President Triet said he supported and highly valued the five areas of cooperation newly agreed to by the Vietnamese and Mongolian defence ministries and hoped that the Mongolian minister’s visit will help to strengthen the friendship between the two nations and reinforce bilateral defence ties.
He noted that, with their similarities, the two countries should boost and broaden their areas of cooperation and share their experiences for both countries’ development.
Minister Bold said he was honoured to become the first Mongolian Defence Minister to visit Vietnam and said he believed that following his visit, ties between the two defence ministries will expand and develop to new heights.
He also noted that Mongolia-Vietnam relations have seen a number of new developments since October 2008 and that Mongolia wished to continue to work closely with Vietnam at regional and international forums.
According to the minister, the speaker of the Mongolian parliament will also visit Vietnam next week./.
