State President joins National Economics University 55th anniversary

(VOV) - The National Economic University (NEU) in Hanoi celebrated its 55th anniversary on November 19 with the presence of State President Truong Tan Sang and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

In his speech at the ceremony, President Sang praised the university’s research in economics, which has made positive contributions to training and Party and State policy making.

As one of the top national universities for economic research, the NEU should be a pioneer in implementing the targets and tasks set by the 11 th National Party Congress and improving the quality of teaching and curriculums, as well as training management, to boost the country’s industrialization, modernization and international economic integration, he said.

He also expressed his belief that the university will continue to contribute to national construction and protection in the new period through the efforts of its teachers and students and with support from ministries, sectors and international friends,.

President Sang also presented a second Ho Chi Minh Order to the NEU on the occasion.

Established in 1956, the NEU, precursor to the Central Financial Economic University, is one of Vietnam’s biggest training centres for economic and business management, and economic research and consultancy.

Over the past 55 years, the university has trained more than 100,000 students, granting 6,120 masters degrees and 879 PhDs.
