VGP – State President Tran Dai Quang hoped that the public security forces of Laos and Viet Nam would continue to foster cooperation to protect national security; maintain social order and safety.

State President Quang made the point on March 16 while hosting a reception for Laotian Minister of Public Security Somkeo Silavong who was on an official visit to Viet Nam.
The host leader warmly welcomed the official visit of Minister Somkeo Silavong and the outcomes of conference between the two Ministries of Public Security.
He expressed his pleasure at the cooperation in national defense and security, hoping that the public security forces would continue to cooperate in a more practical manner.
Especially, in 2017, Viet Nam and Laos would mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962-September 5, 2017).
For his part, Minister Somkeo Silavong treasured the host leader’s support for the cooperation between the two ministries and thanked the State and Government of Viet Nam for supporting the neighboring country to successfully host ASEAN Chair in 2016.
According to Mr. Somkeo Silavong, the two ministries agreed to continue to exchange delegations in order to share experience and strengthen cooperation in maintaining social order; safeguarding national security; and preventing crimes and non-traditional security issues./.
