A man was fatally thrown off an ambulance van in Hanoi Friday when it crashed into a sidewalk after two of its tyres were punctured.
The ambulance, belonging to the National Tropical Diseases Hospital, lost control on Thang Long Boulevard at around 4:30 a.m. as it was carrying 79-year-old Cao Van Luu, who died at the hospital a day earlier, back to his home in the north-central province of Nghe An Province after being hired the family to do so.
The Tuoi Tre newspaper said Ho Dai Duong, 26, was driving the ambulance with three family members of the dead patient including his son Cao Van Kinh, 41, who died in the accident after he was thrown off the vehicle.
Duong was severely injured, as was another son of Luu's and his niece. They have been rushed to a general hospital for treatment.
