The Vietnam National Power Transmission Corporation put the Son La-Hiep Hoa 500kV Transformer Station into operation on March 31st.
Once fully operational, the plant will transform electricity from the fourth and fifth turbines of the Son La Hydropower Plant into the national grid, helping ease the power shortage of Hanoi City and other northern provinces during the dry season.
The 500kV Son La-Hiep Hoa Transformer Station, one of national major projects, synchronising with the Son La Plant (including 6 turbines with capacity of 2,400MW), was built at a cost of around VND2.8trillion.
In addition, the Son La-Hiep Hoa creates a connected power circuit among national areas, improves safety and stability in power transmission and better the national grid’s operation.
