The High Command of Military Zone 5 and the Province of Quang Nam on December 16th opened a floating bridge across the river of Thu Bon.
After 3 days of work, military engineering units under the local command finished the assembly of the float-bridge to connect the two banks of the Thu Bon between Nam Phuoc Town, Duy Xuyen District and Dien Phong Commune, Dien Ban.
Earlier, a cement bridge located nearby the float-bridge was damaged by floods, which caused a lot of difficulties to the tranport of local people.
In the situation, the military command ordered engineering unit H70 to quickly survey the river and build a float-bridge for local people in three days’ time.
Soldiers had had to work all day and night and overcame harsh weather to accomplish the task on time.
According to local officials, the float bridge will be used until the end of January 2011 when the cement bridge has been repaired.
