‘So you think you can dance’ hunts Vietnamese stars

Those who have passion for dancing are invited to join the reality show named ‘So you think you can dance’ which was launched in Vietnam last week.

The Vietnamese version of this world-acclaimed program from the U.S. is named Thu thach cung buoc nhay and is jointly produced by HCMC Television and Dong Tay Promotion. It will be aired from September 15 at 9 p.m. every Saturday on HTV7, DRT (Danang City), CVTV1 (VTV Can Tho City), HN2 (Hanoi) and Yan TV.

The show consists of five episodes of auditions and semi-final round and 18 live shows of the gala round, Top 4 and coronation night. The winner will come home with a cash prize of VND400 million and a chance to improve their dancing career.

Furthermore, the four finalists will have one year of professional training at Dancenter in HCMC.

The judging panel consists of veteran dancesport star Chi Anh, a secret guest and an invited guest which changes weekly including actress/singer Ngo Thanh Van and MC Thanh Bach.

Organizers will have auditions nationwide to seek Vietnamese talents aged between 16 and 30. It is expected that the first audition will take place on July 23 in Can Tho, Hanoi, Danang and HCMC. The top 100 enter the next challenge in HCMC where they have to impress in various dance genres to be the 20 finalists for the gala round.

These contestants will make ten couples who receive professional training with choreographers. Each week one male and one female contestant will be eliminated.

Participants can apply for the contest to Dong Tay Promotion Company at 200 Pasteur Street in District 3 or access the website www.soyouthinkyoucandance.vn .

So you think you can dance is a reality show of Fox created by Simon Fuller in 2005. It has been held for nine seasons in the U.S. and has won seven Emmy awards. The show has been produced in 24 nations.
