Six sets of remains of martyrs found in Nha Trang

PANO – People’s Committee of Nha Trang City on July 29th worked with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and Military Command of Khanh Hoa province to collect sets of remains of soldiers who died in the General Offensive and Uprising of Spring 1968 in Vinh Ngoc commune, Nha Trang City.

According to Mr. Tran Ty, who directly buried these martyrs on January 6 th , 1968 (Lunar Calendar), said on the day he received seven sets of remains of soldiers died at post-office T-junction (present Le Loi street) and buried at a cemetery in Hon Nghe 2 hamlet, Vinh Ngoc commune, Nha Trang City.

Six years ago, one out of seven sets of remains was identified and repatriated by its relatives.

Thanks to martyrs’ belongings, such as hammock, belts, rubber sandals, buttons and raincoats, war veterans who once took part in Khanh Hoa battlefield said that these martyrs were commando soldiers.

These sets of remains of martyrs were reburied in martyrs’ cemetery of Hon Dung.
