(CPV)- The student video contest titled "Sustainability - All we need is U" has been initiated and supported by Siemens Vietnam since early June till end of August 2011 with an aim to increase awareness about sustainability and to appeal the sense of responsibility and responsive actions among the youths.
On 16th September, the final round of this contest and the award presentation ceremony to winners was held in Ho Chi Minh City by Siemens Vietnam as a closing activity of GreenBiz 2011. This event attracted around 250 students from many universities in the city. The clip: "Nature balance" has received the highest vote from the jury panel and is the winner of the contest.
The video contest "Sustainability - All we need is U" was first launched on the 6th of June 2011 and after two months and a half, there have been more than 50 video clips loaded for competition on the official website of the contest at http://www.thanhphobenvung.com.vn from students across the country. All of the clips are of high quality and convey key messages that the organizing committee would like to target in relation to sustainability.
From 51 entries, the jury panel has selected 5 best ones for the final round, which took place on 16th September in Ho Chi Minh City as a closing activity of GreenBiz 2011 conference. At this event, each of the five finalists made a presentation about his video clip and answered questions from the jury panel under the witness of around 250 participants.
The jury board has then selected 3 main prizes and two encouragement prizes. The first prize - a Sony Vaio laptop, was awarded to Nguyen Van Thanh, a 5th year student from Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts with "Nature balance". His cartoon has expressed vividly and perceivably the dark future of the human being if they continue to destroy the natural balance for economic growth.
The "Trees' Talk clip of Stormie Brand group in Hanoi received the second prize, and the third prize was awarded to Nguyen Thanh Trung in Ho Chi Minh City for his:Ó Heart talk from the city I love."
"We are very pleased with the quality of the contest. Our students are talented and thoughtful. This video contest is significantly meaningful not only in terms of education but also in that it has created a healthy and creative playground for the young generation," said Mr. Vu Khac Vien, a jury from the Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Theatre and Cinema.
"Sustainability is Siemens' guiding principle since our foundation more than 160 years ago. 'I won't sell our future for short-term profit' is a very famous saying of our great founder, Mr. Werner von Siemens. And through this contest, we wish to help raise the awareness about sustainability among students, who are future owners of the country, as well as to call for their sense of responsibility and wise actions from today," said Mr. Erdal Elver, CEO of Siemens Vietnam and Chief of the jury panel.
