(VOV) - Experts and senior officials from Japan and Vietnam met in Tokyo on March 21 to discuss Japan’s experiences in the construction, management and operation of urban railway systems.
Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Takashi Kitamura, emphasized that many Japanese businesses are highly experienced in training human resources for this sector.
Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee, Nguyen The Thao, spoke of the traffic jams and other challenges facing Hanoi. He said Hanoi find it urgent with the building of eight railway lines to link the city centre to satellite cities.
The Director of the Hanoi Metropolitan Rail Transport Project Management Board, Pham Tuan Son, made a presentation on the city’s plan to develop the urban railway system and answered Japanese businesses’ questions on projects in this connection.
Japanese experts expressed wishes to cooperate with Hanoi in developing urban railway system in the near future.
